Thursday, June 30: Alvord to Great Basin

The long haul (sigh).
We had McDonalds for breakfast. That's how hungry we were. Mom said one hour and 30 minutes! 30 minutes later...two hours and 30 minutes later...seven hours after we left...we're here! -Hannah

7 hour trip and how it was spent: 98 miles to Winnemucca--slept. Ate MCDonalds in Winnemucca. 5 hours and 30 minutes left. Four hours and 30 minutes after that arrive in Ely. We were still an hour away. Luckily, I slept 30 minutes. -Jackson

We got a speeding ticket in Ely. The cop was pretty nice about it. I think he really just wanted to pull us over to have a better look at our rig. We are NOT inconspicuous in our tall Sprinter van. People stop and look. And, as in the case of our ticket, the cop had already seen us go by once going 10 over the speed limit. -Hillary
