ATLANTA: JULY 26-27

The first day I went to my pen pal's house.  Her name is Mary Frances and she lives in Decatur, Georgia. We had a blast! For lunch we had watermelon, turkey sandwiches, chips and for desert we had cookies.  We went to the pool also.  My dad didn't drive us in a car.  He drove us in a golf cart! The pool was fantastic.  It felt good on a hot summer day, and it had not one but two diving boards.  Mary Frances and I jumped in side by side. Then we left and went back to Atlanta.  The next day we went to The Botanical Garden.  It had tons of cool glass sculptures.  My favorite was Sapphire Star.  That evening we went to Lyman and Becky's house. I went on a treasure hunt with Becky and then we went to a restaurant with my cousins. -Hannah

We went to see mom's friend Martha and her house.  While Hannah hung out with Martha's daughter, Mary Frances, I played with her younger brother Paul. We tormented the girls until Dad decided we should take a ride in their golf cart. I even got to drive it for a little bit. That was fun. Later we went to the pool near their house. We left right before I was about to complete my one-and-a-half dive off of the diving board. The next day we went to the botanical gardens. We saw these glass sculp

tures called Chihulys. They were named for the guy who made them, Dale Chihuly. They were really cool. My favorite was Saffron Tower. Then we went to see Lyman and Becky. -Jackson

Last year when we were in Atlanta, we met up with Martha and her family and Hannah and Mary Frances became pen pals.  I love it that we had getting the two of them together as an excuse to get together again this year.  But the really fun thing about this year's meeting was that our moms came too.  Martha and I have been friends since we were just a little bit younger than Jackson, so it was fun to get three generations together and eat lunch.  Thank you, Martha, for hosting us. -Hillary

Time to go to the pool in the golf cart!
We took over Grammy and Grump's courtyard with our gear.
